Claire Milburn
Claire Milburn is based in Fort Collins and supports clients throughout Colorado as a part of CP2’s litigation team. Her practice emphasizes commercial litigation and employment matters.
Ms. Milburn followed an unconventional path to the courtroom. She earned her Bachelor of Music Education from Jackson State University, where she marched with the celebrated Sonic Boom of the South, and her Master of Music in music education from Louisiana State University. Before law school, she spent six years as a music educator, primarily teaching middle and high school band in the Birmingham, Alabama area- work that demanded many of the same qualities she draws on for clients today: clear communication, meticulous preparation, and composure under pressure.
Ms. Milburn went on to earn her J.D., cum laude, from Louisiana State University, where she served as an associate on the Louisiana Law Review. During law school, she completed a judicial externship with the Honorable Shelly D. Dick, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana. Ms. Milburn was a member of the Board of Advocates and a finalist in the Dean’s Cup, LSU Law’s premier oral advocacy competition. She was selected to represent LSU Law at the American Bar Association’s National Advanced Appellate Advocacy regional competition in Chicago. Her performance in LSU Law’s trial advocacy program earned her a nomination for membership in the Wex Malone Inn of Court. She also served as a research assistant to Louisiana law expert Professor Melissa Lonegrass and as a teaching assistant for criminal law and Louisiana contracts.
Outside the office, Ms. Milburn enjoys paddleboarding, hiking, and traveling with her dog, Toby.
